Indigo

What do 7000 islands have in common? Diversity! The Philippines is an incredibly diverse country, with more than 170 languages and almost as many versions of noodle dishes (“pancit”). Same goes for the kinds of fish in the sea, the exotic fruits, the number of town festivals, and the number of ways to say, “I love you “: they’re so many!

From language to food, religion to tradition, and mountains to mangroves, there is one constant in the lives of Filipinos: variety.

We at Indigo! are very thankful to work in this special country, and would like to celebrate and support this diversity in several ways:

DESIGN.

Our accommodation designs incorporate native languages, indiegnous scripts, and other cultural elements from different parts of the Philippines
Dissemination.
We share facts about Filipino society through publications in our apartments and website, to help tourists appreciate the intangible wealth that this country has to offer, and explore it in rewarding, responsible ways.
Human resources.
Diversity is important to us in the staffing and operations of the company. Indigo has zero tolerance for discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, religion, and language, and we strive to achieve a diverse and capable team through our hiring policies.
Environmental practices.
Through energy-efficient appliances, using recyclables, engaging guests to reduce electricity consumption, and promoting indigenous ecological knowledge, we want Indigo to have as minimal an impact on the environment as possible.
Outreach.
As we grow, we would like to explore how we can further protect the Philippines’ precious diversity. We are open to linking with NGOs or educational institutions to support programs such as an Indigenous School of Living Traditions or the making of children’s books in their mother tongues.
Through the above initiatives, we hope to promote responsible tourism, intercultural understanding, and a mutual love for diversity. We thank our guests for their interest and sensitivity towards the cultural, linguistic, and environmental heritage of the Philippines.
Indigo Bahay offers travelers and renters the best accommodations the Philippines has to offer in the form of curated and specially decorated apartments in Metro Manila’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
